Forlagets resumé af Non-Bullshit Innovation- Radical Ideas From The World’s Smartest Minds

David Rowan reports on his global quest to find truly bold visionary leaders who have recalibrated their businesses in radical ways so as to grow and succeed in the digital age. Rowan got to know the founders of WhatsApp, LinkedIn, Google, Spotify, Xiaomi, Nest, Twitter. Since then he has travelled the world and met countless other ambitious startups. He’s heard talk of change agents and co-creation gurus, ideas portals and accelerators, make-a-thons and hackfests, paradigm shifts, pilgrimages to Silicon Valley and all sorts more corporate blather. But he’s also discovered some genuinely exciting and transformative innovations, often in places you might least expect. And he’s come away with practical takeaways for readers looking to apply these approaches immediately in their own businesses

Forlagets resumé af Why We Get The Wrong Politicians

Politicians are consistently voted the least trusted professional group by the UK public. They’ve recently become embroiled in scandals concerning sexual harassment and expenses. Every year, they introduce new legislation that doesn’t do what it sets out to achieve – often with terrible financial and human costs. But, with some notable exceptions, they are decent, hard-working people, doing a hugely difficult and demanding job.In this searching examination of our political class, award-winning journalist Isabel Hardman tries to square this circle. She lifts the lid on the strange world of Westminster and asks why we end up with representatives with whom we are so unhappy. Filled with forensic analysis and revealing reportage, this landmark and accessible book is a must read for anyone who wants to see a future with better government —

Forlagets resumé af National Populism- The Revolt Against Liberal Democracy

A crucial new guide to one of the most urgent political phenomena of our time: the rise of national populism. Across the West, there is a rising tide of people who feel excluded, alienated from mainstream politics, and increasingly hostile towards minorities, immigrants and neo-liberal economics. Many of these voters are turning to national populist movements, which have begun to change the face of Western liberal democracy, from the United States to France, Austria to the UK. This radical turn, we are told, is a last howl of rage from an aging electorate on the verge of extinction. Their leaders are fascistic and their politics anti-democratic; their existence a side-show to liberal democracy. But this version of events, as Roger Eatwell and Matthew Goodwin show, could not be further from the truth. Written by two of the foremost experts on fascism and the rise of national populism, this lucid and deeply-researched book is a vital guide to our transformed political landscape. Challenging conventional wisdoms, Eatwell and Goodwin make a compelling case for serious, respectful engagement with the supporters and ideas of national populism – not least because it is a tide that won’t be stemmed anytime soon

Forlagets resumé af Visual Communication Design- An Introduction To Design Concepts In Everyday Experience

This is a foundation level textbook for courses in basic design and introductory courses in visual communication design. The chapters in this book follow the user experience cycle: attention, orientation, interpretation and extension and retention of meaning. Each chapter includes an introduction to the interpretive task, definitions of the elements and principles related to the task, illustrations and diagrams plus examples of professional design work that makes use of the element or principle. For example, Chapter 2 on getting attention discusses the various ways that design can capture the viewer’s eye such as by using proportion, contract, color, pattern, etc

Forlagets resumé af Post-Truth- Why We Have Reached Peak Bullshit And What We Can Do About It

Low-level dishonesty is rife everywhere, in the form of exaggeration, selective use of facts, economy with the truth, careful drafting – from Trump and the Brexit debate to companies that tell us ‘your call is important to us’. How did we get to a place where bullshit is not just rife but apparently so effective that it’s become the communications strategy of our times? This brilliantly insightful book steps inside the panoply of deception employed in all walks of life and assesses how it has come to this. It sets out the surprising logic which explains why bullshit is both pervasive and persistent. Why are company annual reports often nonsense? Why should you not trust estate agents? And above all, why has political campaigning become the art of stretching the truth? Drawing on behavioural science, economics, psychology and of course his knowledge of the media, Evan ends by providing readers with a tool-kit to handle the kinds of deceptions we encounter every day, and charts a route through the muddy waters of the post-truth age.
